Ango | Peaceful Dwelling

Ango, which translates as "peaceful dwelling,” has been a traditional 90-day practice period in Zen for centuries.

We come together to deepen in the realization of our true nature and awaken wisdom and compassion.

We invite all to join in our Fall 2025 Ango intensive practice period.

Programs are available for all levels, beginners and seasoned practitioners, local and remote, in person and online.

Our theme for this year's Ango is Karma and Crisis.

The word "crisis" has an original meaning of a "turning point", the pivotal moment of choice where things can go one way or another. Karma, of course, is created by volitional action, what we choose to do, say and think. So crises are times when our choices are most consequential, and the karma we create is magnified.

In this ripe time of transformation individually and collectively, we will explore whether and how our choices can create the changes, the inflections, we desire to see in the world and in our lives.

We invite you to engage in this Ango practice period with the Eon Zen Sangha as you are called and able, and join us in intention and practice to create good karma together.

Set your Ango Intentions

Below are many opportunities to deepen your practice individually and with sangha through practice, study, and service during the Ango intensive practice period.

More will be added in the coming weeks.

You can use the Ango Commitment form (online below or pdf download) to clarify your intentions — perhaps you attend meditation sittings with the sangha more regularly, participate in each of the monthly retreats (in person or remote), explore the Foundations Course, or join in serving at All Roads Shelter (Boulder local).

Together with the sangha, you will:

  • Deepen your quality of life through the presence practices of Zen: awaken your sensory experience, become an engaged participant in community, nature and cosmos, access to power and potential of your own aliveness.

  • Develop insight into your unique life path: in the midst of your unique karmic conditions, what commitments call to you? What are your vows?

  • Cultivate wisdom and compassion by co-creating a generative field for our Bodhisattva vows and good karmic seeds to grow.
