Through our Zen practice, we can see how karma is created by our thoughts and intentions as well as our speech and bodily actions. As Nora Bateson says, a change in perception is, itself, an action.

Every time we shift our perspective — through zazen, through koan study, through our vows and intentions — we are creating positive karma. We can introduce wholeness into the world just through the change in perception.
